Vintage Photograph of Pueblo Indian Musicians, Taos, New Mexico, 1906. The photographic mount measures 12.5 cm x 15 cm, and the image measures 8 cm x 11 cm. It is a vintage silver-gelatin print, identified “Indian musicians, Pueblo Indians, Taos, New Mexico,” and dated in pencil “Sept[ember], 1906” on the verso. An amateur photograph taken of group of eight Indians performing a welcoming ceremony, holding their percussion instruments, with two elders looking on, in front of an adobe dwelling. Two women in European dress are seen standing with the Indians at the extreme left, at the end of the line, as if they, too, were part of the ceremony. Slight wear to the edges of the mount, and some solarization of the silver, otherwise very good.
