Description

American Flag. A thirteen-star miniature American flag mounted on a three and three-quarters inch-long lady’s hat pin, a souvenir of the post-Civil War victory. The top end of the pin is a round amber glass bead. The flag is made of stiff woven silk. This miniature flag is not in Kit Hinrichs’ Long May She Wave, but its design on a large flag is featured on pages 220-221, and it is in the same style of  Union General Benjamin Butler’s United States Bunting Company’s thirteen-star flag of 1866, which was modeled after the American boat flags of 1782. Condition is fine.
