Tweedie, 337, Strand; George Gallie, Glasgow; and All Booksellers, 1852. 8vo; 5 woodcuts. Cohn 201. 31 numbered pages, verso of p. 31 has a half-page “note,” an anecdote about the fall of a young man in a good position, having succumbed to “the temptations offered by the Betting Offices.” This pamphlet came unsewn, and the cover and outer pages were taped with archival tape, not affecting either text on the back cover or the image on the front cover. The famous last woodcut, “The Tail of a Racehorse,” is a full-page image, with a five-line explanation. Fair condition.
