Signed and dated in 1650 by noted Frisian historian, Simon Abbes Gabbema (1628 – 1688), the official historian of Frisland, promoter of the Frisian language and a sometime owner of the Codex Roorda. There is a second manuscript motto on the title page and another note on the front flyleaf, possibly a record of its acquisition in 1627 in Lugduni Batavorum, modern-day Leiden.
First edition published 1517, Delepierre says this edition was printed in Germany not in Italy, as the paper and the wretched woodcuts (chétives figures) indicate, citing David Clément. Delepierre, Macaronéana, p. 138. A few pages have worn spots, thin holes in the uneven paper (pp. 5-6; 477-478; 479-480 affecting a few letters of text on p. 5), otherwise a good copy with an interesting provenance of a Frisian philologist, historian and manuscript collector.
