Kügler, Rudolph. The Dock. A four-color etching in grey-blue, brown, grey and black, measuring 15 ½ in. x 19 in. on a sheet measuring 18 in. x 22 in. Fine. Rudolph Kügler was born in 1921 in Germany, and distinguished himself in this etching and in his other work as an artist working successfully outside a contemporary art movement. Kügler considered art as personal as handwriting with a meaning for every viewer. His mastery of color etching is evident in The Dock, which he signed, titled, dated and numbered “112/200 ‘The Dock’ R. Kügler 61.” IGAS, Series 49, May 1962.
