Kügler, Rudolph. Roma. A three-color etching in light- and dark-brown and black, measuring 15 in. x 18 in., on a sheet measuring 18 in. x 22 in. Fine. Rudolph Kügler was born in 1921 in Germany, and distinguished himself in this etching and in his other work as an artist working successfully outside a contemporary art movement. Kügler considered art as personal as handwriting with a meaning for every viewer. His mastery of color etching is evident in Roma, which he signed, titled, dated and numbered in pencil “119/200 “Roma,” R. Kügler 60.” IGAS, Series 39, May 1960.
