Kügler, Rudolph. Marble Quarry. A five-color etching in brown, black, grey, light- and dark-tan, measuring 15 ½ in. x 19 ½ in. image on a sheet measuring 17 ½ in. x 22 ½ in. Fine. Rudolph Kügler was born in 1921 in Germany and distinguished himself in this etching and in his other work as an artist working successfully outside a contemporary art movement. Kügler considered art as personal as handwriting with a meaning for every viewer. His mastery of color etching is evident in Marble Quarry which he signed, dated and numbered in pencil “119/200, R. Kügler 58.” IGAS, Series 32, January 1959.
