Description

Kügler, Rudolph. Città Antica. (Old City).   A five-color etching in black, grey, light- and dark-brown and green,  measuring 15 ½ in. x 19 in. on a sheet measuring 18 in. x 22 ½  in. Fine. Rudolph Kügler was born in 1921 in Germany, and distinguished himself in this etching and in his other work as an artist working successfully outside a contemporary art movement. Kügler considered art as personal as handwriting with a meaning for every viewer. His mastery of color etching is evident in Città Antica, which he signed, titled, dated and numbered “67/200 ‘Città Antica’ R. Kügler 60.” IGAS, Series 42, January 1961.
