Description
Kügler, Rudolph. Alte Mauren in Rom. (Old Walls in Rome). A four-color etching in light-brown and tan-brown, grey and black, measuring 15 ½ in. x 19 ½ in., on a sheet measuring 18 ¼ in. x 21 ¾ in. Fine. Rudolph Kügler was born in 1921 in Germany, and distinguished himself in this etching and in his other work as an artist working successfully outside a contemporary art movement. Kügler considered art as personal as handwriting with a meaning for every viewer. His mastery of color etching is evident in Alte Mauren in Rom, which he signed, titled, dated and numbered in pencil “174/200 “Alte Mauren in Rom,” R. Kügler 60.” IGAS, Series 47, January 1962.
