Serkin, Rudolf. An automobile registration form originally for Judith Agnes Serkin. The form was altered to suit Rudolf Serkin, signed and dated by him on January 2, 1975. The form gives his address as RFD 3 Brattleboro, Vermont and was processed by the State of Vermont on January 31, 1975. Condition fine. Rudolf Serkin, long regarded as one of the most important classical pianists of the twentieth century was Viennese by birth, studying piano with Richard Robert and composition with Arnold Schoenberg in Vienna. A chamber collaborator with Adolf Busch, whose son-in-law he later became, Serkin was the ideal musician to found the Marlboro School and Festival in 1951 with help from the Busch family and from Marcel, Blanche and Louis Moyse, a festival over which he presided until his death in 1991. Condition fine.
