Préfecture de l’Indre et Loire. Extrait du Registre des Actes de la Préfecture Du [treize germinal] de l’an [13]. Engraved form in French with the coat of arms for the First French Empire at the top, with manuscript ink annotations. One sheet of bluish laid paper with vertical chain lines and a watermark, 34.5 cm x 22.5 cm. April 3, 1805. A Napoleonic era document attesting to the credentials of an assistant land-surveyor in Tours, France, in the same year as the Battles of Trafalgar and Austerlitz. Signed, “Dumas.” Text:

[Le Général Préfet du Département sûr la demande présentée par le Géomêtre de ce Dept tendant à ce que le S[ieur] Murison arpenteur; chargé du travaux dans le 2ième arrondissment puisque s’adjoindre le Sieur Picard géomêtre, démurant à Loches.

[Arrête: Le Sieur Murison géomêtre chargé de l’arpentage du 2ième arrondissment est autorisé à s’adjoindre le Sieur Picard arpenteur. Le Sieur Murison reste responsable des operations entier le géomêtre en chef.

The General Prefect of the Department confirms the request presented by the Surveyor of this Dept for Mr. Murison to be surveyor; responsible for the work in the 2nd arrondissement with the addition of Mr. Picard, surveyor, based in Loches. Mr. Murison, surveyor responsible for surveying the 2nd arrondissement, is authorized to join Mr. Picard, surveyor. Mr. Murison remains responsible for operations as the chief surveyor. For sending by the general prefect
