Description
[Princeton University] Princeton 1935 Football Schedule, a lithographed gray tin wallet card, with a vertical portrait of “Pepper Constable ’36 Princeton’s 1935 Football Captain” on the recto (9 cm x 5.7 cm), and a horizontal game schedule with prices for reserved seats and general admission on the verso (5.7 cm x 9 cm). Printed by Grammes, Allentown, Pennsylvania, 1935. The tin card shows some creases from having been carried in a wallet, worn in someone’s pocket, otherwise a very good surviving momento of one of Princeton’s greatest football players.
Dr. W. Pepper Constable (1914-1986) was captain of the undefeated Princeton football team of 1935. He later earned his medical degree at the Harvard Medical School, and after World War II, served as Chief of Medicine at the Princeton Medical Center. He was also the Director of Health Services at the Squibb Corporation in Lawrenceville, New Jersey (1972-1980).
