Parting Words to a Little Flock by a Clergyman by Rev Wilkinson – 1846

$185.00

An evangelical gospel tract that has on the verso of the front cover “Solemn Scripture Truths for Children,” which begins with “Children are born sinful.” “Children are born guilty, i.e. deserving of punishment.” “Children grow up in sin.” Such were the declared views of Rev. F. H. Wilkinson, Incumbent of West Ashton, Wiltshire. Saying goodbye to the children in his congregation, having received “another flock far away.” Urging his “sinful” and “guilty” children to cower in fear and “love Jesus” or else be condemned to eternal punishment, Wilkinson was a typical evangelical pulpit tyrant of his day and a product of his times.
