Turner, Professor, R.A., Balmer, Bentley, Chisholm, Hart, A.R.A., Harding, McClise, A.B.A., Melville, &c, &c. Comic Illustrations by G. Cruikshank. Descriptions by the Rev. G. N. Wright, M.A., &c. Vol. I; Vol II. London, Paris & America: Fisher, Son, & Co. [1836-38] 4to; first issue plates, all dated 1836-37 or 1838. Vol. I: Title; i-ii; 1-72 pages; Vol II: Title; iii-iv; 5-84] 27 cm x 21.5 cm. Handsomely bound in full black calf with embossed cover corners holding a gold-ruled panel with stylized gold thistles in each corner. Interlined plates. Spines have four raised bands, five compartments, four decorated compartments. Page edges are marbled, matching the marbled end papers. Slight wear to the corners and hinges of Vol. I, which appears to have had a repair to the head of the spine. The front hinge of Vol. I is cracked but holding.  Both volumes were treated with Klucel-G to rehydrate the leather. These are still tight handsome bindings. Cohn, 729. 108 illustrations, 35 of which are etchings by George Cruikshank.
