“To the Maple Leaf Club.” The “Maple Leaf Rag” is four pages, with one additional page, reproducing as an advertisement “The Entertainer” dedicated to “James Brown and his Mandolin Club,” bearing the copyright date of 1902. On the verso of this advertisement for “The Entertainer, a Rag Time Two Step,” is the back cover bearing another advertisement, printed in red for “The Sunflower Slow Drag,” with an anecdote about Joplin’s own performance.

The front cover is in green and red on cream-colored paper. The front cover has what appears to be a stamp in paler green ink: “Also Published as a Song and Dance.” 35 cm x 26.5 cm. The condition is only fair, with fragile worn paper and a few cracks and cover fold-separation expected of a copy that has been well-used. This copy is not earlier than 1902.
