Blair, John. From the Calton Hill. 18.8 cm x 27 cm, titled and signed in the lower left-hand corner, “from the Calton Hill John Blair.” Undated. An annotation on the back of Whatman’s watercolour sketching board reads: “To A. and M. from D. — B. a memento of April 19 – 26, 1920.” One of John Blair’s (1850 – 1934) characteristic Edinburgh scenes, a watercolour accented with white. Slight sunning, otherwise a very good image. Traces of adhesion to verso of the board.
