Berlin, Bossischen Buchhandlung, 1800. 20.5 cm; 8vo. [ iv; 536 pages; ii] Three fold-out maps copied from the English originals with the English language preserved on the maps, including location of the Christianized Indians: “Plan of the City of Washington” nach dem Englischen Original gestocken, von Carl Jättnig in Berlin; “New map of Upper and Lower Canada” nach dem Englischen Original gestocken, von C. Jättnig; “Part of the United States of North America” with an inset map of South Carolina and Georgia bordering North Carolina and Florida, nach dem Englischen Original gestocken, von Carl Fättnig [sic] in Berlin. 1800. Two fold-out aquatint engravings of Virginia and Niagara Falls, with “Plan of the City of Washington” as a frontispiece. Bound in original nineteenth century decorated German paper boards with quarter leather spine and points, gilt lettering on spine. Decorative contemporary German pastedowns. Hinges cracked but still tight, internal condition very good, with a minor paper loss on p. 345 with loss of only a few letters from two words, not affecting readability of the text. The maps are printed on heavy laid paper and are fine. Volume 20 of the Magazin von merkwuerdigen neuen Reisebeschreibungen.
