At the foot of the title page this notice appears: „Das werk erscheint in ca. 30 lieferungen von 3–4 bogen textund vier tafeln in lichtdruck zum preise von RM. 4 pro lieferung.“ (The work will be published in about 30 deliveries [installments] of 3-4 sheet[s of] text and four sheets in light printing at the price of RM 4 per delivery [installment].) The “sheet” count is before folding. Pages 1 – 440; 497 – 671 paginated; xxi – l (unpaginated illustrations). Measurements are 35 cm x 25 cm. Condition: mostly unopened, wrapper loose on Part 1, all pages present but unglued and loose; front cover of the wrapper on Part 5 is missing, all pages present but unglued and loose; pages unglued and loose in Parts 23 and 24. Arguably the most comprehensive history of early printing, including the spread of printing technology from Asia to Europe.
