The first volume is the text, which explores in detail the essential aspects of the celebrated illuminated manuscript from the Libreria Viscontea Sforzesca in the Biblioteca Reale, the Storia di Gesù e Giudizio Universale, a richly illustrated codice miniato from the School of Lombardy in the fifteenth century: the manuscript itself, the texts, the language, the iconography of the miniatures (Guido Gentile), the artist Cristoforo de Predis (Riccardo Passoni), as well as the criteria for translation, and indexes of places, names, with a final glossary. The second volume is a complete full-page color reproduction of Codice Varia 124, with more than 300 pages. Housed in a hard, pale-blue folding box, as issued, matching the blue cloth bindings on both volumes. Almost as new, in pristine, very fine condition. A very useful reference for an art historian with a specialization in Christian iconography.
