The dust wrapper is decorated with an illustration of the Porta Soprana, prospetta esterno, in a watercolor by Alfredo de Andrade. Taking the Porto Soprano di sant’Andrea in Genoa as her point of departure, Colette Dufour Bozzo states that this gate is the city gate par excellence because an epigraph affixed to the southern archway of the building is dated 1155. The Porta Soprana served as the entrance to Genoa for people arriving from the east. The book and the dust wrapper are both in fine condition.
