Donnelley & Sons, Publishers, 1886. First edition, a portrait frontispiece with a reproduced signature, 214 pages, 6 pages of publisher’s advertisements after the text. This copy is inscribed on the front flyleaf by the author: “To Mr. Lonsdale with good wishes of The Author.” 18.5 cm, dark-green cloth with embossed pattern on the front cover, with the title gilt-lettered. 29 illustrations. The cover is damp-stained and the text block slightly cocked. Tear on p. 41, no loss of text. The text block is clean and bright, free of foxing. Harry Kellar (1849 – 1922) was an American magician and among the first magicians to enjoy an international career, which his autobiography recounts.
