Partial nudity and suggestive choreography in the floor shows were features which inspired comparisons to the Folies Bergère in Paris. Jimmy Kelly’s real name was Giovanni de Silvio, known for his ties to the political machinery of Tammany Hall in New York as well as his ties to the network of shadowy businesses providing adult entertainment as well as deliveries of beverages to his various establishments in lower Manhattan.
